DIY: luxury jones style boots

these boots were a big hit on my instagram. a few ladies even asked for me to make them some to buy which was super flattering but I told them to at least wait for my DIY post because they can probably make their own! the options are endless so get creative!

I mainly used lobster clasps and links from my jewelry making kit so it's easy for me to change the pieces around and essentially have a new pair of boots whenever I want. you could also sew or use industrial glue. I use e-6000 for crafts like this. be sure to read the labels and use it only outside and preferably with a face mask to protect yourself from the chemicals.

so you start with a layer of your fabric of choice. just enough to wrap around once with an inch/inch and a half overlapping if you want to piece it together with studs like I did. or make a perfect sleeve with your sewing machine! it can be lumpy whatever it's going to be mostly covered up. just make sure it's nice and snug.

a necessary layer is belts. any belts that you like. I just used some I had laying around but have been meaning to check some thrift shops for better ones. try to space it out as you wrap around so your other goodies can weave in between them. if you don't plan on switching them out then glue the belts down with the e-6000.

chains are important to add extra texture and toughness. loop them all around however you think looks best. I like one near them bottom to dangle around the heel. it looks so western and makes a cute jingle when you walk.

once you've got them all junked up add a nice trim around the top. I cut some fringe with leftover suede fabric that I had. I'm still iffy about it. I might make the fringe one of the first layers at the bottom. or just remove them completely and make arm cuffs. what would you do? originally I used only the lace trim around the top. I glued the tiny rosettes onto the lace because it just seemed right.

necklaces are wonderful additions as they're easy to remove and adjust and can add a whole new level of cool. I'm on the hunt for some conchos and coin necklaces to add so I used these faux pearls as an example. and they might just stay!

THATS IT. just wrap a bunch of junk around some ankle boots and you're done. stuff some flowers in them. use pins and broaches. add patches. anything you could possibly dream! I already had all of my supplies at home but even if you have to go out and get supplies it will be super cheap and most likely look even better than mine!

hope you like! if you make your own send me pictures! what junk should I try out next? until next time.

outfit of the day: hells bells

so I finally got some bells and let me just say.. they feel like home. I never want to wear anything else. comfort level over 9000. gorgeous print. and so many compliments! I've been a skinny jeans kind of girl since eighth grade. (do you guys believe that i actually got made fun of in my high school for wearing them? when I said small town you have no idea how accurate that is.) but I'm really glad extreme bell bottoms are becoming a thing. and I plan on fully embracing them. thanks to pylo.com for creating a perfect fit and unbelievably perfect prints. I'm never shopping anywhere else. ever ever ever.

so of course I went with the obvious combination of bells and a muscle tank. extra points for vintage Harley Davidson! it's the ultimate cool girl outfit. the bells are so dreamy and the edgy tank adds this magical sort of toughness. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed.

dressed them up just a bit with a lacy white tank and my litas again since I'm short and need to get a few inches trimmed off the ends. I'm still experimenting with fresh new ways to style these and preparing to order my second pair! how would you style these?

no matter what I'm wearing with them I always stack on the rings (which I desperately need more of.)

SHOPBYPOLAR collaboration!

the beautiful people behind SHOPBYPOLAR.com were so kind to gift me this gorgeous necklace when I responded to their sponsorship ad on chictopia! I've been a member of chictopia for awhile now and I can not thank them enough for their help and support with my blogging. I hate to admit it, but my jewelry collection is quite small but ive recently become obsessed and i guess they sensed my desperation and I'm so glad because this is the exact type of jewelry I've been looking for.

here's a close up. it's so versatile I styled it with several outfits today and will feature it in my next outfit of the day post. they have so many options and they were all so perfect it was hard to choose!

the chain is perfect I can wear it as a choker or a long layering piece. I'm on the hunt for the perfect backless top or dress so I can wear it down my back.

to sum it all up, i give this shop an A+ all of the pieces are perfectly on trend but also unique. it's easy to dress up or down so it will be getting lots of use. thanks again to SHOPBYPOLAR and chictopia for making this happen.

DIY: coffee scrub and green tea facial

are you ready to take your unhealthy obsession with coffee/tea to the next level? when I first heard about the coffee scrub trend (frank, luvbodyscrub, etc.) I was so upset I hadn't thought of it sooner. especially when I realized I had everything I needed to make it in my kitchen already. this made me go DIY crazy making all sorts of at home facials, toners, and scrubs. so much fun!

I've got three incredibly easy DIY beauty "products" to show you today. coffee body scrub, green tea toner, and matcha green tea facials. I used some mason jars for storage this time but any air tight container will be fine. other than that your only tool is something to mix with. I only make enough for about four uses at a time because I'm not sure about preservation time. fresh is always better anyway!

this DIY is so easy yet so wonderful! there are endless options that you could come up with on your own. I'll list what I think are basic essentials first and continue on with my personal choices.

ground coffee
olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, etc.
honey
water
sugar, sea salt, apricot meal, etc.
lemon juice
cinnamon
orange peel
aloe vera
peppermint leaves
tea bag
cocoa powder
vanilla or your choice of scent

I know that looks like a lot but it's small amounts and you can do less or more. anything you want. while organic coffee is ideal any ground coffee will do. I started with flavored coffees I've received and that are otherwise going to waste because I like plain dark roast coffee. it helps add smell as well. coffee, sugar, and orange peel are for exfoliating. honey and coconut oil for moisturizing. cocoa powder and contents of a tea bag for antioxidants. I used celestial seasonings antioxidant green tea this time. cinnamon for breakouts. lemon juice for pores. be careful to not put in too much of the liquids. you want it to be a little sticky. just between wet and dry.  and just mix it all with a fork or whatever and that's it! use at the end of your shower. I put my hair in a ponytail and scrub from head to toe! leave it on to dry for about 5-7 minutes and rinse. that's it! you'll be shocked by your soft skin and yummy smell!

these are so simple I decided to tack them all together because there's really not a lot I have to tell you. literally the facial is simply matcha green tea powder mixed with a little water and honey if you want. I always make way too much because of how little it takes. i love the idea of green tea facials because of its amazing benefits like anti-aging! I leave it on until it dries, rinse and, pat dry. before I do facials I use my facial sauna. you can get one for like $25 bucks online or walmart/target. you can add essential oils to the water for even more benefits!

the green tea toner is also very simple but very effective. brew a cup of green tea alone, with lemon and/or honey. you can keep the tea bag for application or you could use a cotton ball or even a spray bottle. let it chill in the fridge and it's done. apply it and let it dry and you're done. unless you want to use a moisturizer then that is last. it's done fantastic work with my pores! 3-4 days is ideal time for a change but I think you could keep a jar for a week. I hope these things help you as much as they have for me!

outfit of the day: what would Jim wear?

I still wake up every day and think me winning this top was a dream. I'm so obsessed its sort of embarrassing. I really should get a job so I can buy the rest of their fantastic pieces. I literally need everything and it is not an option in my life to go without these things.. yikes.. see what I mean? I'm such a freak. follow their instagram (@spell_byronbay) for giveaways and maybe you'll be as lucky as me!

anyway! I wanted to dress it up but in an unconventional way so I pulled out my high rise leather pants. in the middle of summer? crazy right? it's been dreary here the past three days and I'm starting to get that itch for autumn weather so why not? 90% of the time I forget to put on jewelry and it sucks. maybe if I start buying more I would remember but most of the time it takes me so long to decide on an outfit I'm ready to jet as soon as the shoes come on. if I would've added some thin silver necklaces and turquoise rings I would be happier with this outfit. you live and you learn.

so by this time I'm looking at myself thinking "I am the female Jim Morrison" except nowhere near as cool and I can't sing or write poetry. so I should say "I look like the female Jim Morrison" but I will never be that much of a total babe. so then I quit talking to myself and find my most badass boots. I just feel like I couldn't have picked a better shoe. the damsel cross wedges always take things to the next level.

personal style

I'm editing a new fashion post but in the mean time I thought I'd show some of my past outfits. (I was much better looking last year, I know.) since I got an instagram I've been obsessed with ootd photos because putting together a good look is one of the few things I'm really good at. I've never understood how people can stick to one style. my favorite thing about fashion is that it helps me become whatever/whoever I want to be that day. (angel in disguise, get it?) it's so wild going out every day and seeing the vast array of reactions I get according to what I'm wearing. try something new today!

my go to outfit generally consists of a vintage Harley Davidson tee, boots, and some sort of printed bottom. I'm obsessed with mixing prints and find that pairing a graphic tee with something complementary in color is the easiest way to do it.

hat: forever 21

dress: goodwill
boots: jeffrey campbell coltrane

when I dress up I go for an updated hippie look. or is that what bohemian means? whatever. messy hair, earthy tones, nice fabrics, layers, and always always a big ass pair of heels. (can you tell I'm a jeffrey campbell fan yet?)

kimono: forever 21
dress: forever 21
shoes: jeffrey campbell lita

occasionally, I will show my super soft and girly side wearing lots of pinks and florals without a vintage t-shirt or leather jacket to toughen it up. i get a lot of inspiration from movies so these looks are usually inspired by andie in pretty in pink. or maybe just molly ringwald.

cardigan: goodwill
shirt: urban outfitters
skirt: american apparel
socks: karmaloop
shoes: jeffrey campbell x urban outfitters daisy cutout lita

my casual wear is all over the place. I try to avoid repeating outfits by buying things I can mix and match with a little bit of everything. I mainly shop at urban outfitters, h&m, american apparel, etsy, eBay, and thrifting. I like forever 21 for trendy pieces and when I need to get a good haul. I end up modifying a lot of things I buy. look forward to DIY posts in the near future!

watermelon juice?

sometimes I get upset with myself for being online so much when I could be out soaking up the sun, because I obviously need to be doing that more, or just doing something more productive. but honestly, it offers so much knowledge that I could have possibly never obtained, it has given me new friends from so many different places, and the oppurtunity to shop for amazing shoes that my small town could never give me. ;)

yes I do have a point for writing that ridiculously long intro for something so simple. the internet taught me that watermelon juice is a thing! some of you might be thinking DUH but in my tiny town our options for "health drinks" are naked and bolthouse farm brand juices that we all know are quite the opposite of what a juice/smoothie should be. I've been into home made smoothies and juices for awhile now but it just never crossed my mind until I saw an instagram post by one of the lucky babes I follow from california. i love it so much I feel compelled to spread awareness of this yummy drink.

all you really need is a watermelon and a blender/juicer. but most of the time I add in little bits of whatever else I have in the fridge.
lemon for weight loss, immune boost, and energy.
apple for digestion and fiber.
blueberries for antioxidants and mood enhancement.
aloe for vitamins, minerals, and overall health improvement.

(never heard of drinking aloe vera? I hadn't either but I'm extremely happy I found out about it. do a little research on your own if you like, but I will probably make another post about it and other foods that I find to be amazing! let me know what you think!)

I originally intended on starting out with outfit and fashion posts but haven't had a chance to do it. I'm definitely shooting for the current week so be patient with me. I'm surprised to see that I've gotten a few views without advertising on my instagram. here's to hoping when I do all of my friends dig it.
